Every coach, before they coach

Every School Of Fish coach holds an enhanced DBS check. Before anyone coaches at a School Of Fish franchise, whatever their level, they pass three assessed tests with every answer right: safeguarding, understanding autistic learners, and the same fishery test we set our learners.

They also sign our coach agreement, which binds them to every policy on this site, and the safeguarding test is retaken every three years.

At every session

There are at least two adults at every session. One-to-one is a coaching ratio at the water, never a child alone with an adult. Parents and carers are always welcome to stay.

If something's wrong

Any concern goes to the Designated Safeguarding Lead immediately, the same day it's raised, and we act on it under our Safeguarding Policy. Where a child may be at risk, we involve the statutory agencies.

We'd rather hear about something small that turns out to be nothing than miss something that mattered.
